Blockchain is a decentralised digital ledger technology that is used to store and track transactions among a network of computers. Although it was initially created to serve as the foundational technology for the cryptocurrency Bitcoin, its potential applications have since grown significantly. Each block in the chain of blocks that makes up the blockchain is linked to the one before it in a sequential and unchangeable manner and contains a record of transactions. Consequently, a transaction that has been added to the blockchain cannot be changed or removed after it has been recorded.
