A specialised medical device called a "Nasopharyngeal Swab" is used to take samples from the throat and back of the nose. A soft swab is linked to one end of a thin, flexible stick that makes up the device. The nasopharynx, which is the top section of the throat attached to the back of the nasal cavity, is reached after the swab has been softly entered via one nostril and carefully moved through the nasal cavity. Once it is in the right place, the swab is rotated multiple times to collect a sample of the nasopharynx's secretions. asisscientific.com.au/nasopharyngeal-swab/
