ROCHESTER, First known as the Flour City in the mid 1800s, for the plants that were controlled by the Genesee River, Rochester turned into the Flower City when nurseries and seed creation supplanted the grain business. Industrialists and business visionaries molded the city at the turn of the twentieth century, and photography pioneer George Eastman assumed an especially key job. His Eastman Kodak Company is basically inseparable from the city and stays one of its top bosses.
