Rockyford Community School, a new and much improved, learning environment, will provide new classrooms to 500 Pre-K to 8th grade students starting with the 2012-2013 school year. Located 56 miles from Rapid City and 28 miles north of Manderson on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, Rockyford Community School, part of the Shannon County School District, will enjoy a $17 million addition that includes a new gymnasium, 13 new classrooms, an updated kitchen and multifunctional areas. Funding for the school was made through a partnership between Citi Community Capital, Citi's community development lending and investing group, and Dakotas America, a community development group working in rural, highly distressed low-income communities.
