This video will introduce you to how to spin the front side 360 for intermediate snowboarders. The Front side 360 rotates the entire body and snowboard 360 degrees in the air while the chest faces forward to initiate the spin. Ok. Here are the technical key points for spinning the front side 360. 1. 2 to 3 setup turns 2. Hips are aligned over the heel edge to pop and spin nicely. 3. Knees are aligned over the toe edge. 4. Wait to takeoff until the center of the board touches the lip 5. Pull your front arm behind to help rotate hips 6. Rotate and pull your hind arm up to prevent your body from leaning. 7. Stand with your lower body 90 degrees from the jump angle and pop 8. Suck up your knees after popping to get more rotation 9. Bend your chest over your front leg while in midair 10. Look at an area 2 meters away from your body. 11. Stand up quickly to get a stronger base Now let’s find out how we can improve the front side 360! Step 1 – Flat ground Stand on the flat ground without the board. And with your feet apart as if they were in the bindings on the board. Try to spin 180 in both directions first. And next, do two 180 in a row in the same direction. Once your balance is good, then next spin 360 in both directions. You can challenge yourself to spin more with a 450 and a 540. It’s to check your balance while spinning so don’t worry about how much you can spin. Just try to focus on your balance while spinning. If you lose balance while spinning a 360, try spinning a 270 instead or go back to two 180s in a row. This time try spinning a 360 while facing in the direction you’d face when riding on the slope. From here it will become more practical. Different eye directions might change your balance but just try to keep your balance centered while spinning. Rotate your hips as well as your shoulders and arms. Pulling your front arm behind helps to give your hips more rotation. Let’s start by doing two 180s in a row. For the first 180 rotate your snowboard lower body 180 degrees but rotate the upper half of your body 45 degrees more than the snowboard lower body. This position allows your upper body to keep pulling your hips and lower body in the direction of the spin. You want to stop spinning on the next 180 unless you’re spinning more than 360. So keep your chest facing backward and rotate only your hips and lower body to complete the 360 spin. If your lower body passes up your upper body, the spin will slow down or stop. This move is called counter rotation. Now try reducing the time your feet are touching the ground, so start the second 180 immediately after the first 180. Once you get used to it, connect both 180s in the air. So you do first 180 with your chest facing backward and add second 180 before your feet touch the ground.
